L'Amour desarme is a 1806 by Christophe Guerin, a Romanticism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This print shows a naked woman holding a small child, both looking down. Behind them, a man with a beard and a lion’s skin slumps on the ground, his head resting on his arm. Trees and a distant village fill the background. The woman’s soft curves and the man’s rough fur contrast sharply. The title *L’Amour desarme* hints this might be about love overcoming strength. Check out chiaroscuro to see how light and shadow create drama in art.
