This drawing shows a woman and a small child in a soft, dreamy pose. The woman is naked except for a draped cloth, sitting on a cloud with one arm around the child. The child has wings and holds a bow in the woman’s left hand. Behind them, trees and bushes are lightly sketched in warm browns and tans. The artist used quick, sketchy lines to make the figures look alive but still smooth. The cloud they sit on adds a floating, weightless feel. Look up cross-hatching to see how artists build shadows with layers of lines.
