This is a black-and-white portrait of a man in a suit and tie. He’s standing, one hand resting on a chair and the other loose at his side. His face is serious, with a slight frown and a thin mustache. The background is plain, focusing all attention on him. The artist used lines to build up the shading, making the fabric and skin look textured. This was done by carving wood and inking it—like a detailed sketch but raised. Want to see more?
