This painting shows a narrow street flanked by tall, stone buildings. On the right, a grand tower with pointed spires and a cross on top rises above the others. A lone rider on horseback walks down the street, while a person in a dark coat stands on the left side. The sky above is partly cloudy, and the buildings have arched doorways and small windows. The artist used soft watercolors to show light and shadow, giving the scene a quiet, almost dreamy feel. The buildings look old and weathered, with some patches of moss or dirt on the walls.
