This print shows the front of a theater built in London right around 1809. William Daniell made it using a print technique called aquatint, which gives soft tones like watercolor but is done on metal plates. The building looks grand and symmetrical, typical of theaters from that time. It’s interesting that the print came out just before the theater opened, so it’s almost like a preview.
