This sketch shows two men walking side by side. The one in front wears a long coat, a wide-brimmed hat, and carries something in his left hand. His legs and arms are drawn with quick, confident lines. Behind him, a smaller figure in a similar outfit walks a horse. The big guy’s left hand holds an odd tool—maybe a hatchet or an axe. The artist used fine lines to show the folds in their clothes and the horse’s movement. Next, check out the technique: etching to see how artists like this made prints.
