Copy after the painting Piccolomini receiving the Cardinal's hat by Pinturicchio in the Libreria Piccolomini, Siena. is a 1878 watercolor by Edward Kaiser, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a crowded room with bright colors and gold details. A group of people in fancy robes stand around a raised platform. Behind them is a small altar with another painting inside—a woman holding a baby. The room has tall windows with diamond-shaped glass, and the ceiling is decorated with patterns. Notice the man in blue with a hat—he’s the focus, but the crowd around him looks busy and important. The colors are bold, and the light seems to hit the gold edges of the robes. Look up Edward Kaiser to see how he copied this scene.
A watercolour copy of Pinturicchio’s *Piccolomini receiving the Cardinal’s hat*, made by Edvard Kaiser in 1878, is inscribed with the artist’s name and date. Commissioned by the Arundel Society, the work was later published as a chromolithograph in 1882 and included in a 1881 folio of etchings accompanying an essay on Pope Pius II.
