About this work

This print shows a chaotic battle scene packed with soldiers, horses, and fallen figures. Everyone is armed—swords, shields, and spears fill the air. Some soldiers are on horseback, others are on foot, and a few are lying on the ground. The artist used sharp lines and heavy shading to show movement and struggle. Notice how the figures are all twisted in action, some reaching out or falling. The horse in the center looks especially dramatic, rearing up with its rider. This style of dramatic action fits into the Renaissance movement.
