Edge of Marsh at Couronne is a 1863 by Félix Ziem, a Impressionism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This sketch shows a misty marsh with tall reeds and a few trees. The lines are loose and quick, like the artist was working fast. The paper has a yellowish tint, and there’s a faint outline of two figures on the right side. The artist signed it in the corner, but the writing is small and hard to read. The scene looks soft and hazy, almost like a quick study rather than a finished work. If you like this sketchy style, look up Impressionism.
Félix Ziem (26 February 1821 – 10 November 1911) was a French painter in the style of the Barbizon School, who also produced some Orientalist works.
