Drawings of figures and a cow is a 19 by George Chinnery, a Romanticism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This is a set of quick sketches by George Chinnery. You get two figure drawings and one of a cow. One man bends over to clear stones with an adze. The other drawing zooms in on his hands gripping the tool. The cow stands calm nearby. It’s small, fast work—typical of Chinnery’s habit of drawing on the spot. Look next at artist: George Chinnery.
The drawings depict two figures and a cow, with one figure using an adze to clear stones and a detailed sketch of the hands gripping the tool’s handle, while the other figure stands nearby and the cow is shown in profile. Part of a volume containing 179 sheets of drawings made in Bengal and Macau, the works were bequeathed in 1928 by James Orange as part of an album of 93 drawings by George Chinnery. Chinnery, born in London in 1774, began his career as a miniature portraitist before relocating to India in 1802 and later settling in Macau in 1825, where he remained until his death in 1852.
