This sketch shows two buildings by a river, drawn in quick, scratchy lines. One building is tall with a tower, the other smaller with a sloped roof. Trees lean over the scene, their branches tangled and bare. The river looks calm, with a few tiny boats floating near the shore. The artist used a technique called etching, where lines are scratched into a metal plate. This made the image look rough but full of detail. Next, check out the technique: etching to see how it works.
