Vue du Château royal de Chambord, du côte de la Porte royale is a 1727 by Jacques Rigaud, a Baroque work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This drawing shows a grand castle with tall towers and long wings, surrounded by a busy courtyard. People on horseback and in carts move along dirt paths, while others walk near the buildings. The sky is partly cloudy, and trees line the edges of the scene. The text at the bottom names the castle *Chambord*, a famous royal palace. The artist used careful lines to show light and shadow, making the buildings look solid. Next, check out Baroque to see how this style used drama and detail in art.
