Palazzo di Spagna, Naples is a 1681 ink by Melchior Küsel, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This etching shows a busy waterfront scene with a large ship docked on the left. In the background, a grand building with tall columns and statues on the roof stands near the water. People in old-fashioned clothes gather on the steps and along the shore, some talking, others sitting or walking. The ship’s sails are detailed, and the building looks like a palace or important government space. The artist used fine lines to show light and shadow, making everything look three-dimensional.
