This print by John Kay pokes fun at a famous couple who got into money trouble. It’s titled “Thats Your Sort! The Brisk Widow; and the tight lad, or, Mr & Mrs Lee Lewes in the Road to Ruin.” The scene shows how gossip and bad choices led to their downfall. Kay made the print in 1792, using simple lines to tell a quick, pointed story. It’s small but packed with personality—typical of his sharp Edinburgh satire. Look up the Victoria and Albert Museum.
