This engraving shows a man in fancy 17th-century clothes. His coat is dark with lace trim, and a cape drapes over one shoulder. A sash with medals crosses his chest, and his wig is curly and tall. The background is simple, with a dark curtain and a hint of another figure’s head in shadow. The text at the bottom calls him *Serenissimus Princeps Jacobus Dux Eboracensis*—that’s Latin for a fancy title. The artist used fine lines to show light and fabric, making the details pop. Check out how this was made with engraving.
