The Dispute of Saint Catherine is a 1551 oil by Prospero Fontana, a Mannerism work, depicting Catherine of Alexandria, held at Capitoline Museums.
This painting shows a group of people in a room with tall columns. They are all looking at a woman in a yellow dress who is standing in the center. She is holding her hand out to a man sitting on a throne. The woman is surrounded by many other people, some of whom are sitting on the floor or on steps. The room has a high ceiling and a large window on the right side. The colors are mostly red, yellow, and brown. The artist who painted this is Prospero Fontana.
Prospero Fontana (1512–1597) was a Bolognese painter of late Renaissance and Mannerist art.
