A Bean Curd Seller is a 1790 paint by Puqua, a Patna School of Painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a man standing in front of a table, wearing a blue robe and a brown hat. He has a long pipe in his mouth and is holding a string attached to a basket filled with white objects, possibly bean curds. The man is barefoot and has a blue sash around his waist. The table has a white cloth on it, and there is a small object on the cloth that is hard to make out. The background of the painting is a plain off-white color. The artist who painted this scene was Puqua.
A rectangular watercolour painting titled *A Bean Curd Seller* by Puqua, dated 1790, depicts a central figure dressed in black standing between a large white bucket and a short white table. The work is part of a set of 100 paintings illustrating various trades and occupations in Canton. Acquired from Parsons & Sons, it was accessioned in 1898, as recorded in the Asia Department registers during a 2022 provenance research project.
