Cattle at Rest on a Hillside in the Alps is a 1885 oil by Rosa Bonheur, a Impressionism work, held at Art Institute of Chicago.
You see black and tan cattle lying on short, green grass with a cloudy mountain top view behind them. The painting shows a calm scene, with the cattle resting peacefully. The artist paid attention to the details of the cattle's coats and the texture of the grass. The artist used simple, natural colors to create this scene, similar to the style of artist Rosa Bonheur.
