Aman employs a fluid, loosely applied brushwork that conveys the fleeting quality of light and movement. A muted palette of browns, greens, and grays establishes a subdued atmosphere, while selective highlights, most notably the bright hat, break the tonal uniformity, drawing attention to specific elements within the scene.

The painting entered the Museum of Ethnography’s holdings after being acquired in the early twentieth century, reflecting the institution’s interest in works that document cultural and urban life beyond Romanian borders. Its attribution to Aman, a prominent figure in Romanian academic painting, has been consistently affirmed by catalogues and scholarly research.
