This painting shows two flower bouquets – one with white roses, the other with red. The white roses sit in a simple glass vase against a dark background. The red roses are in a metal pitcher with loose, gathered stems. These were painted in the Baroque period, when artists loved drama and bright details. The dark backdrop makes the flowers pop even more. The artist paid close attention to light and shadow on each petal. This work sits in the Museum of Ethnography in Timișoara.
