This is a long wooden block with three rows of tiny, sharp metal edges. The edges form repeating patterns of dots and lines, like rows of text. Two small circular holes are spaced evenly along the top. These blocks were used to stamp ink onto paper or fabric, creating printed pages. The patterns look like Buddhist scripture—this one’s called the *Perfection of Wisdom*. Check out The Cleveland Museum of Art to see it in person.
