京都名所之内 祇園社雪中|Gion Shrine in Snow is a 1828 ink by Utagawa Hiroshige, a Romanticism work, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This print shows a snowy street scene at night with a few people walking under a blue torii gate. The gate marks the entrance to a shrine, and the ground is dusted with snow. Trees on both sides are covered in white, and the sky is dark with falling snowflakes. Two women in colorful kimonos walk together, while another person holds a bright yellow parasol. The bright parasol stands out against the dark, snowy background, making it a focal point. This print is part of a series showing famous places in Kyoto.
