『上野公園開花図』|Blossoming Cherry Trees in Ueno Park (Ueno kōen kaika zu) is a 1888 ink by Yōshū (Hashimoto) Chikanobu, a Impressionism work, depicting Tree, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This print shows three people standing under cherry blossoms. The man in the center wears a dark military uniform with red and gold trim. To his right, a woman in a long purple robe with green and red sashes holds a fan. A child in a red dress stands between them. The background has a wooden building with lattice windows, and pink flowers fill the sky. The red sign on the right side has Japanese writing, and the scene looks like a park. Cherry blossoms are a common subject in Japanese art, often tied to springtime. Look up tree next to see how cherry blossoms appear in other artworks.
