Overview

An oil painting by Charles A. Buchel from 1914 depicts Herbert Beerbohm Tree in the role of Othello. The full-length portrait shows Tree standing in front of a wall with a pilaster to his right, wearing European plate armour adorned with gold decoration. His helmet, featuring two small green plumes, a tall yellow crest, and a mail aventail, is based on an Indo-Persian design, and he holds a green cloak decorated in gold. The painting is signed and dated by the artist.
