The Grape Harvest is a 1865 by Charles François Daubigny, a Impressionism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This black-and-white drawing shows a muddy field where workers are hauling heavy wooden carts full of grapes. The carts are pulled by two oxen, their fur matted with dirt. In the background, a river runs quietly, and trees line the bank. The artist paid close attention to the rough texture of the animals and the tangled vines. This kind of detail was common in the 1800s when artists aimed to show life as it really was. Look up Realism next to see more works like this one.
