About this work

This watercolor shows a woman in a big, puffy coat and hat, standing outside in cold weather. She’s holding a giant brown turnip, and her dress has layers of fabric. Behind her, a small wooden house and a church steeple sit in a snowy town, while a bird perches on a fence. The word “NOVEMBER” is written at the bottom, hinting this scene is about winter. The artist used soft colors and simple shapes to show the chill in the air. Check out Romanticism for more art that focuses on nature and everyday life.
