Guy Little Theatrical Photograph is a 1850 photographic by Fuerin, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This photo shows Jane Hading, a stage actress from the late 1800s. The picture was made by Fuerin, a photographer who captured actors in character. It’s a cabinet card, a popular way to share portraits back then. These cards were bigger than visiting cards and printed on stiff paper. They gave fans a way to remember their favorite performers. This albumen print by Fuerin depicts actress Jane Hading and belongs to a collection of 19th-century theatrical photographs assembled by Guy Tristram Little, later donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum. The image is mounted on a stiff card backing typical of "cartes de visite," small portrait photographs patented in 1854 and widely produced during the 1860s. Such photographs were made from glass negatives and often collected in albums alongside scenic views and works of art. Little’s collection, including this portrait, was presented to the museum in the early 20th century.
