George Chinnery drew these scenes in the 1840s. One shows three men bent over a tray on a basket. You can see a bowl and other objects on it. A second sheet has a careful study of an arm and sleeve. Chinnery worked in China during those years. He made many drawings like this—quick studies of daily life. The men seem focused on the tray, maybe preparing or sharing something. Look up the Victoria and Albert Museum.
