About this work

This painting shows a harbor scene with a few boats on calm water. In the foreground, there’s a dock with a lamppost and two large anchors. The background has a small island with a lighthouse and a few buildings. The colors are soft and blended, with lots of tiny dots of paint. The dots of paint create a fuzzy, shimmery effect that makes the scene feel warm and bright. This style was a big deal for its time. Look up Pointillism next to see how this technique works.
