Christ is a 1626 ink by Italian 16th Century, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This black-and-white print shows a bearded man with long hair standing upright. He’s holding a tall staff in one hand and raising the other hand as if blessing someone. Sunburst lines radiate behind his head, and a banner with writing hangs from his staff. The artist used a simple, bold style typical of woodcut prints—just lines and no colors. The paper looks old, with a faint grid pattern at the bottom. Want to see more? Check out how woodcut works as a printmaking technique.
