Jacob Maris executed the oil painting Arrival of the Boats in 1892. The work depicts the Scheveningen fishing community awaiting the return of their fleet, a scene rendered before the construction of a local harbor in 1904.
The painting entered the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam in 1910. It was acquired as a donation from the art collector couple Jean Charles Joseph Drucker and his wife, known as the Drucker-Fraser pair.
