View of Gulf of Naples is a 1681 ink by Melchior Küsel, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This black-and-white print shows a busy waterfront scene. Ships with tall masts sit anchored near a crowded shore. People gather in groups—some on benches, others standing—while a few figures in robes stand out. In the background, buildings and a church tower rise over the water. The title at the bottom calls it a "view of the Gulf of Naples," but the artist used fine lines to capture every detail. Notice how the waves and clouds look almost like brushstrokes.
