Albrecht Altdorfer is a 1736 ink by Philipp Andreas Kilian, a Baroque work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a black-and-white portrait of a bearded man with a serious expression. His hair is curly and thick, and his face is framed by a circular border. The background is plain, with some text around the edges. The artist used tiny parallel lines to create shading and texture, giving the face depth. This is called cross-hatching. Next, look up cross-hatching to see how artists build shadows with lines.
