Images (Les images) is a 1889 ink by Auguste Lepère, a Impressionism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows two people leaning over a table, studying something together. One looks like an adult, the other a child. Their faces are close, focused on the same spot. The lines are loose and quick, almost like scribbles, with some darker shading for depth. Notice the pencil and paper on the table—they might be drawing or writing. The background is faint, with just a hint of a chair and a small figure in the corner. Check out Lepère, Auguste for more sketches like this one.
Louis-Auguste Lepère (30 November 1849 – 20 November 1918) was a French painter and etcher. Lepère is also considered a leader in the creative revival of wood engraving in Europe.
