Face in Profile (verso) is a 1864 by Paul-Jacques-Aimé Baudry, a Impressionism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
Baudry shows a man’s head turned away, light catching his cheek. The line work is clean and confident. Apollo’s hair falls just so—no distractions, just the shape. Baudry studied Michelangelo’s Sistine frescos before painting the Paris Opéra ceiling. This sketch was part of a bigger plan. You can see the influence in the body’s curve. Look up Michelangelo’s David—same twist in the torso.
