About this work

The painting depicts a chaotic scene with many people in ancient Roman attire. A woman in a white dress is being carried away by a man, while another woman in a blue dress is being held back by another man. The background features trees and buildings. In the foreground, several figures are engaged in a struggle, with some trying to intervene and others looking on in shock. The colors are muted, with earthy tones dominating the palette. The painting's use of chiaroscuro creates a sense of depth and drama, drawing the viewer's eye to the central figures.
