`Our Candgia preparing to ascend a "Rapid' Assouan Cataracts On the Nile' is a 1855 watercolor by George de Sausmarez, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This watercolour painting shows a landscape with a river and rocks. The river is in the middle of the image, with rocks on both sides. The sky is light yellow. In the foreground, there is a small boat with a long stick in it. The boat is on the right side of the river. There are some palm trees on the left side of the image. The painting is a landscape, and it shows a scene from nature. You might also like to explore the movement of Impressionism.
One of forty-five watercolours on thirty-five mounts, this work is part of an album documenting views in Egypt and Nubia, created during or after a 1855 journey along the Nile. The scene depicts a local figure, Candgia, preparing to board a vessel at the rapids of the Assouan Cataracts. The album is housed in a half-bound crimson morocco music binder stamped with the word "EGYPT" on the front cover.
