Clouds over the River before Rain 溪雲欲雨圖 is a 1474 ink by Shen Zhou, a Ming Painting work, held at Art Institute of Chicago.
This painting shows a river scene with clouds gathering before a rainstorm. The artist used simple ink and color on paper to create a sense of calm. The painting is also interesting because it was made during the Ming dynasty, a time of cultural and artistic growth in China. Check out the work of artist Shen Zhou to learn more about his style.
