You see a quiet river winding through low hills under a pale sky. Trees lean over the water, their reflections broken by small ripples. Lépine painted this near Paris, where he lived. He liked to show ordinary places—no grand scenes, just light on water and leaves. The brushstrokes are thin, almost like watercolor, so the scene feels soft and real. If you like how light moves here, look up the technique called *glazing*.
