Roberto Francesco Romolo Bellarmino, Cardinal is a 1850 ink by Unknown 19th Century, a Romanticism work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This is a black-and-white portrait of a serious-looking man in fancy robes. His hands are clasped, and he wears a tall hat with a cross on top. Around his head, a banner curves with Latin words like *"ROM. CARDINALIS"* and *"REVERENDISSIMUS ROBERTA"*—it looks like titles. The text at the bottom calls him *"Robert Bellarmin Cardinal of the Church of Rome."* The lines and shading in the print create deep shadows, giving his face and clothes texture. This is made using engraving.
