Overview

The artwork is a watercolor painting on paper from 1890, created by an unknown artist, depicting the Hindu deity Ganesha. It was donated to the collection by Ernest H. Hindley of Lightcliffe, with records indicating the acquisition took place at Shepherd's Hill, Highgate, North. The object’s provenance was documented as part of a 2023 research project in the Asia Department registers and Central Inventory, assigned the reference RP 1914-2063M.
