About this work

This is the back of a wooden panel with faded, dark brown lines drawn on it. The surface looks worn, with some cracks and patches where the wood shows through. There’s no clear image—just rough shapes and strokes that hint at something underneath. The drawing is so faint that it’s hard to make out details, but the lines suggest a figure or object. The panel has two small handwritten labels: "MSAP 89.040" and "MS 36 621." If you’re curious about how artists use lines to create depth, check out cross-hatching.
