Krishna and Radha is a 1810 paint by Unknown, a Mughal Painting work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows two figures in bright colors on a raised platform. The person on the left wears a red and gold outfit with a head covering, sitting on a red cushion. The person on the right is dressed in yellow and blue, leaning forward with one arm resting on the other’s shoulder. Behind them is a simple building with a window and a courtyard with trees and a small shrine. The bright colors and soft outlines give it a dreamy look. This style comes from a time when artists focused on emotion and nature. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more works like this.
The painting uses opaque watercolours on paper to depict Krishna preventing Radha from leaving the room. Later repaints appear to have altered the original blue of the cushions and the yellow of Krishna’s dhoti.
