This painting shows a bright red minivet bird perched on a green branch. Its feathers glow like fire against the dark leaves. The bird looks calm, almost still, but its red eyes seem to watch you. This work comes from India in the 1800s. British officials liked these paintings so much they hired Indian artists to make them. Lord Amherst, a big boss in India, owned this set of four bird paintings. If you like this, check out more at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
