清 王槩 設計,李漁出版 芥子園畫傳 版本|Landscape after Fan Kuan (active ca. 990–1030), from the Mustard Seed Garden Manual of Painting is a 1679 ink by Wang Gai, a Baroque work, depicting House, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This print shows two mountain scenes with sharp peaks and winding paths. Trees clump near the base of the hills. A small building sits in the left valley, tucked between rocks. The lines are all drawn by hand, with no color—just black ink on light paper. The top of the page has Chinese writing, but it’s hard to read. The artist copied an old painting of mountains, but added his own style. The paper looks old and worn, like it’s been around for a long time. Try looking up cross-hatching to see how artists build shadows with lines.
