Charles the Second at Salisbury is a 1897 by Minna Bolingbroke, a Impressionism work, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This sketch shows an old stone bridge with a tall column in the middle. The bridge arches over a narrow street where a few small figures walk below. The buildings on either side have arched windows and worn stone walls. The whole scene is drawn in loose, quick lines with dark shading. The artist focused on how light and shadow play across the rough surfaces. This style was common in prints of the time. Check out the Victoria and Albert Museum to see more works like this.
