Selbstbildnis (Self-Portrait) is a 1915 ink by Lovis Corinth, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows a man with a bald head and a short beard, drawn in quick, rough lines. His hands are folded over his chest, and his jacket is loose. The paper has a grainy texture, and the lines vary in thickness. The artist signed the bottom left corner in a small, uneven script. This drawing looks like it was made fast, almost like a quick note. If you like this style, check out Corinth, Lovis.
Lovis Corinth was a German artist and writer whose mature work as a painter and printmaker realized a synthesis of impressionism and expressionism.
