Frontispiece for an Album of Drawings: Peasants at a Fountain (recto); Sketch of Peasants at a Fountain (verso) is a 1784 by Dirk Langendijk, a Romanticism work, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This sketch shows a group of four people near a stone fountain. Two adults—one standing, one leaning on a stick—talk with two seated children. The background has trees and a rocky hillside. The lines are light, almost like a quick pencil drawing. The scene looks calm, with no strong colors, just soft browns and grays. The text at the top reads *"Tekeningen van Verscheiden Leeften,"* which means "Drawings of Various People." The back of the page has a rough sketch of a person’s head. This was likely a practice sheet for the artist. If you like this style, check out The Cleveland Museum of Art for more works like it.
