This sketch shows five Finnish men in traditional dress singing around a table. The men wear dark coats and light vests, their faces lit by soft daylight. You can almost hear the deep, rhythmic hum of the songs. Gallen-Kallela used tempera on canvas for this bold, flat-color style. The bright blues and reds feel fresh even now.
