Indoor Athlete, Second Stone is a 1921 by George Bellows, held at Cleveland Museum of Art.
This sketch shows a man leaning over a long bar, gripping it with both hands. His face is half-lit, eyes focused downward, while a microphone and some wires sit on the bar in front of him. The drawing is loose and quick, with rough lines and shading that leave parts of the paper visible. The man looks like he’s in the middle of speaking or singing, maybe even practicing. The wires and mic suggest this could be a recording setup, though the sketch doesn’t show much else. Check out The Cleveland Museum of Art to see this sketch in person.
George Wesley Bellows (August 12 or August 19, 1882 – January 8, 1925) was an American realist painter, known for his bold depictions of urban life in New York City.
